A National Patient Safety Alert has been issued regarding the recall and supply disruption of Nova Biomedical StatStrip blood ketone test strips. 

GP practices using these strips should:

• check their stock and remove any recalled lots from use
• assess remaining usable stock and local testing arrangements
• follow NHS England's interim clinical prioritisation guidance, with particular attention to patients at greatest risk where timely ketone testing is required.

The situation continues to be managed nationally and practices should remain alert to further updates. Nova Biomedical have indicated that newly manufactured stock is expected to arrive in the UK for onward distribution during the week commencing 26 October 2026.
