Islington GP Federation manages four practices serving 31,000 patients and has focused on increasing NHS App adoption, improving patient confidence, and making it the easiest route to care.

A text campaign encouraged patients to enable notifications, increasing active users from 9,780 to 10,844, an additional 1,064 patients.

Since August 2026, patients ordering repeat prescriptions have received texts linking to a short NHS App guidance video. As a result, NHS App prescription ordering increased from 27% to 30% of repeat requests, with a record 2,045 orders submitted through the App in September.

The federation has also promoted the NHS App through community outreach, including sessions with Arsenal in the Community, a webinar with AbilityNet, and events during Get Online Week. Across Islington’s 30 practices, more than 50 NHS App Ambassadors now support adoption, helping increase NHS App registration rates from 58% to 73% over the past year.
