WH update: Changes to district nursing service

HaringeyIslington

Following a review of district nursing activity, commissioned services and workforce utilisation, the Whittington Health NHS Trust District Nursing Service will be refocusing its resources on core commissioned nursing activity and complex clinical care.

As a result, a number of lower-acuity and non-commissioned activities will no longer routinely be provided by the district nursing service. These changes have been supported by a Quality Impact Assessment (QIA) and approved through Trust governance processes.

The intention is not to withdraw care, but to ensure that patients receive support from the most appropriate provider while enabling district nursing teams to focus on complex nursing interventions, housebound patients and those with significant clinical need.

For further information, including a list of activities that will no longer be routinely provided by Whittington Health district nursing teams, see download.
